OK y'all, I've been reading about some mods that are supposedly the best thing since sliced bread. So my question is, what are the pros/cons to performing an egr delete and the IPR mod? Somebody please explain to me what exactly is included with these mods? I'd like to do a few things that would benefit the performance of the vehicle but wouldn't cost an arm and a leg. I'm fairly new to the diesel world and am still getting acquainted with it. And if it matters, these would!d be installed on an 03 f350 6.0 4x4 dually
03 then you should have the round EGR cooler.
That is the better style to have. doing a delete will
keep soot out of the intake system. You could also
tune it and turn it off that way. Depending on your
state rules you may or may not have to deal with inspections.
Also depending on the what strategy you have in the PCM
you might be able to just unplug the valve or put a blanking
plug in the hole and set the valve in the valley.
Because I have a 2006 I went with a tune to turn it off.
Then if I need to pass an inspection I just reset to factory
for that short time.
Just check out the link in my signature for the SCT from Gearhead.
Nah its registered in Florida. I could put a jet engine in it and they couldn't give a damn less. Again, I'm not familiar with these diesels so I don't know what it would take to tune it or any of that jive. Would taking all that stuff out of the mix cause any check engine lights/ codes to appear? A change in efficiency?

I gotta a early 04(03 engine) and when my egr cooler fell off I did not have any CEL. No tuner either. Look into leaving egr valve plugged in for engine fan operation
OK this is all great info guys and I appreciate it. How would I go about identifying which software is on my computer? Also, I should be more specific. I know the previous owner had done a few mods. I know there is 4" exhaust from turbo back. Banks ram air intake. How could I identify if they have done an egr delete? I'm in Florida right now away from my vehicle so I'll have to check when I get back to Virginia.
The old Snap-On MT-2500 (red brick) scanner can
tell you what strategy is in the PCM. So can my SCT.
Setting a CEL really will depend on that. Most Calf
trucks were forced to have that update that set the CEL
for the EGR. If the cooler is there you could pull the EGR
valve and look in the hole to see how clean it is in there.
You might stop and ask if one of the Fort tech will do a quick scan
and tell you what is in it. BUT DON'T LET THEM UPDATE IT.
Also you could ask for an Oasis report while they are at it.
But it's not needed. It will just list warrantee work done by Ford. You
might see a point where they did an update.
The big thing with the EGR gone is you will have a cleaner intake
and not have a risk of a cooler failure.
The IPR mod I can't say anything about. I think there is a thread
on that topic and you might want to do a search for it.
This should take you to the advanced search, Look down the right side
and limit it to the 6.0L forum for more control. Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums - Search Forums
