Guys can a Dana 70 rear axle from a 1965 to 1972 F350 run a 3.54 ring and pinion with a carrier change? I have been told 4.10 is the tallest gear that can be run in these year model axles. Could someone also tell me if braking and / or stoping a load would be significantly improved if replacing a Dana 60 under a 1966 F250. Any advice / information appreciated. Thanks!
3.54's should change. You have to give us some specs on the brakes, but yes, the Dana 70 will have bigger brakes and therefore stopping power would increase.

OP's 1965 F350 Dana 70's ring gear & companion flange have 10 splines, u-joint has 1310 sized cups.
1967 and later, the companion flange has 29 splines, but there are 3 different types as there are 3 different sizes of u-joint cups: 1310's, 1330's or 1350's.
Most likely the R&P that the OP buys, the ring gear will have 29 splines, so he'll have to change the companion flange.
If he finds a gear supplier and gives them the application, they should be able to come up with parts to swap right in. If the application won't do it, the BOM should.
