Hey all! The wife's got a 2011 F150 XLT with the stick on keypad under the exterior door handle. Tonight I noticed it's lit up red and after an hour it's illumination won't shut off. As well, it won't work anymore to lock/unlock the doors. Is it battery powered? Does the truck have an issue?
if it is the stick on kind, yes it does have batteries, you may want to remove the batteries and put them back in after a minute or two, from what I understand the stick on key pad is essentially a remote key fob in operation, do you also have remote keyless entry?
I'll have to look into it and see how to check for a battery. Yes it has remote entry/start
Hi Powerstrokin_350,
I checked out your Owner's Manual and didn't find a procedure for replacing the battery in the keypad; be sure to let us know what you find. Keep in mind you can always take the truck to your dealership as well. How many miles are on it?
Anyone out there know about the factory door handles with the keypad built in? Are they a wired in thing? Basically I was wondering if i changed the door handle for one with a keypad in it, is it a pita to get working if at all possible?

Yes, the keypad is wired in, it is possible that the harness is there inside the door, is it likely, I don't know, the other component to this is a module behind the rear seatback that is wired into the harness also, its possible that the harness details are there also, if they are, you would need the module and the door handle with the buttons, and possibly a reflash of the body control module or as Ford likes to call it the generic module. Do a search of How to remove rear seat back, pull the seat back and see if the harness is in there, am I certain of this? Not!
Haha ok thanks! So if it's too much work, then in regards to the ford stick on one, it has no wiring then? it can be peeled off the door cleanly? Because I can't for the life of me see how I'll be able to get this thing apart without destroying it. If you use precision and patience and a tiny little set of screwdrivers, the keypad may pop out of all them tabs but im more of a attempt- break a tab- continue- break another- smash with a hammer and buy new kinda guy

LOL, take a picture and post it, if it sticks on, use a heat gun and fish line to unglue from the door. If the harness details are in the truck, you should be able to retrofit, otherwise, you can buy another stick on keypad from Ford.
