I know this isnt related to the engine specifically, but you guys know everything. My truck, see sig, has the keyless entry on it. About once or twice a week it will quit working and I have to go through the procedure to reprogram it to get it working again. I have replaced the battery in the fob with no luck. Any ideas to what can cause this?

 

does it happen to both remotes? if so I would suspect an issue with the RKE itself but Im not a trim tech so take that for what its worth.

 

I only have one remote. I am thinking it may be the remote also. I will check to see if the battery is seating tightly. If anyone else has any ideas, I would love to hear them.

 

Complete power off reset of both Fob and Car and see if that cures it.

 

You kill me with all your power reset posts. LOL. I have done this before when my alternator went out. I had this issue before then.

 

You are into a fairly pricey replacement of either the fobs and or the vehicle module.

There is no fix for bad fobs === unless it is warranty covered.

 

My truck was missing the fob when I got it. $40 from the dealer

 

Oh you got it for next to nothing then... how much to reprogram?

 

the service advisor will normall come out and cycle the key 8 times then hit the buttons for free. we techs charge an hour

SA programmed it as part of the deal. I added the accessory keypad and reprogrammed them both myself.

 

ebay...got an uncut Ford key and a good condition used remote for $15 shipped, reprogram info for the remote is in the owners manual, key programming is not required until 08
