I looked at a sweet '04 6.0 EX today. The guy swears it has "posi" but when I test drove it and pulled out into traffic from pea gravel I noticed evidence of wheel spin from only one side. My question is is there anyway to tell without popping the diff cover? I know GM has rpo codes, is there anything similar that Ford does?
The codes are by the drivers door.... Find the axle code and post it here.
No axle code, and this guy was weird about me taking a pic of the door tag or climbing under the truck to look at the axle tag. Something is fishy to me.
If you have the vin you can use a vin decoder (VIN Decoder - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums) to see what it came from the factory with. No telling what has been done since/what the guy is acting weird. Definitely weird if he doesn't want you investigating stuff about the truck.
EDIT - I can't pretend to know what I'm talking about as I'm learning just as much as you researching this, but shouldn't my TR (transmission) code be the same as his if they are both 2004 6.0 excursions?

I know the 2000's all don't have the codes written, but I've never seen an 02' or newer without it. Just my .02

I was doing some checking also, it should be the same code as yours. I went back on Craigslist to copy the ad onto FTE but the ad has been removed. I think it was a scam of some sort. Thanks for your time guys.
