Okay, on my rear axle there's a tag bolted up to the diff cover that reads
V 126 C
55 10 2 9018
What is it saying to me about my axle?
and on the tag inside my door has a axle code of 39 think thats what it said.
Well, you missed/misread a couple numbers on the tag, but I was able to figure it out anyway. The first line doesn't really have anything interesting, just a build date and where the axle was built.
The second line actually starts with a 3, but a lot of people miss it because it's either really close to the bolt or partially blocked by it.
The 3 55 is the ratio. If it was limited slip, it would read 3L55. Right after it is the ring gear diameter, but since you're posting in the 87 to 96 forum, there is only one axle that's even close to 10, and that's the sterling 10.25" axle. I can't tell if it's full floating or not though.
I think you mean positraction, which is GM's trademark name for limited slip. It definitely doesn't have that. If it had a limited slip, Ford called it trac-loc.
