I noticed my headlights were always on during the day, so I started searching for fixes. Turns out it isn't called a headlight sensor or automatic headlight switch or anything else you'd expect.
Sunload sensor, didn't expect that
Anyway I got the part number 14A597-AC which brings back nothing.
Anybody ever replace this thing and it fix their headlights going off when the sun is above the horizon? That's all I seem to be having trouble with at this point.
I bet thats not your problem. My experiance with this is that the truck was a Canada truck, over the boarder all vehical are required to have DRL. So you may have that, did your truck come with an auto setting on the headlight switch? when the lights are on are the park lights on also? when you hit the park brake do they go out? out in park? come on with ignition?

My early 99 is a Canadian truck and has the day time running lights which I hate. Not sure how to turn them off?
I miss my 03. It had an automatic sensor that turned the headlights on and off when it was dark or daylight.
My 02 is a Kentucky truck and has the same problem when using the automatic light switch selection. With DRL I think you only have 2 low beams on, not all running and tail lamps too. All my lights stay on in auto, same as in the manual position. The all turn on with ignition and off with the delay, just stay on day or night. I'd love to find the right part to fix it.
From what I understand , the DRL stay on all the time , which I hate too . When I set the parking brake they turn off , so I set the brake whenever I park because I believe there is too much draw on the batteries when I try to start . I believe they can be unplugged but have not tried it yet . Apparently there is a plug on the drivers side beside the rad at the front of the vehicle . It is in a cage-like enclosure which is bolted to the truck .
