The wife and 7 kids hit wet black ice on Thursday in the way to school. Slid in the ditch at about 45 mph and rolled . Thankfully everyone got out without injury. Here are some before and after pics. Highway patrolman commended us for having the kids properly restrained. Here's some before and after pics.
Wife just saw this (She's starting to watch the forums a little now) and is EXTREMELY impressed with the X and your wifes ability to handle the X in an extreme situation like this. Bless the Lord no one was hurt and hopefully nothing changes. Looks like the old girl did what she does best, protect us
If nothing else, I am highly impressed by the relatively little amount of damage the rig incurred after a 45mph roll. Even more so that the doors still opened, that's a testament of solid engineering and build. Makes me feel much safer in mine, especially since not long before our rigs were brought into production an Explorer would pancake if gently laid on its roof under its own weight.
Not glad to see and learn more about the Excursion at your, your wife, and the kids' expense however. Sorry to hear, but damn glad to hear that everyone survived fairly unscathed.
Also, my seats are getting a little worn out and yours appear to be in good shape...

It was our second Ex. we had an '05 that I sold after finding this one in August. If you can wrangle the seats from the insurance company , their yours and yes they were cherry, the entire rig was a once in a lifetime find. 2000 Limited with only 42,000 original miles and we only gave 12 grand for it at AT A FORD DEALERSHIP! I was ecstatic and looking forward to a lifetime of trips in it with the family. Thank God I still have all of the family to make the trips with.

Your last sentence here being the operative one. The EX as cherry as it might have been can still be replaced. Glad to see this one had a very happy outcome.
Glad all are ok! Keep an eye an everyone...sometimes injuries show up more the next day. Sad to see another x wrecked, but she did her job!
For sure. Don't sign anything the insurance company gives you regarding injuries. I don't know how it works down there, but up here they will right away try to get you to sign a form saying there were no injuries blah blah blah, essentially trying to rid themselves of any liability for injuries that may come later that haven't been realized yet. Be wary of anything they try to force on you right now, oftentimes they try to get you to sign things you don't have to and that only benefit them.
Glad to hear everyone is okay - especially given the critical rollover reports for Excursions that have made there way through here at times.
