Cool Door Locks

First time poster here, so I hope I'm in the right forum, I took me a half hour to find this one!!
I've got a 1997 F-250 that as soon as you put it in gear to go forward, the doors lock as is the norm on these "new" vehicles. My complaint is that when you stop an get out, the drivers side unlocks, BUT the passenger side doesn't. THEN invariably I go around to get something out of the passenger side and its LOCKED. Thats when my blood pressure goes into orbit. A trip to my dealer yielded no cigar. He stated that some models could be tricked into unlocking, but not this one. HEEELP
Thanks Irv

As far as I know, there is no auto unlock, just auto lock on an OEM system. You could get an aftermarket alarm installed and have it programed.
You could always turn the autolock off.

I just use my keyfob to unlock it if I forget to hit the unlock button when I get out (my door lock cylinder is messed up on the pass side so I can't use a key).

Smile Lock

Just how do you turn the auto lock off? I would be delighted to do that! I live in a rural community where the thought of having my truck stolen is at the bottom of the list. I leave the keys in it about half the time. So does everyone else. I know someone is going to say I'm just asking for trouble, but I like to think I live in a place where there's a lot of good folks and locks are for people that don't want in anyhow!!

Deactivating/activating the autolock feature
Before following the procedure, make sure that the ignition is OFF and
all vehicle doors and the liftgate window are closed.
You must complete steps 1-7 within 30 seconds or the procedure will
have to be repeated. If the procedure needs to be repeated, you must
wait 30 seconds.
1. Turn the ignition key to RUN.
2. Press the power door unlock control three times.
3. Turn the ignition key from RUN to OFF.
4. Press the power door unlock control three times.
5. Turn the ignition back to RUN. The horn will chirp.
6. Press the unlock control, then press the lock control. The horn will
chirp once if autolock was deactivated or twice (one short and one long
chirp) if autolock was activated.
7. Turn the ignition to OFF. The horn will chirp once to confirm the
procedure is complete.
Replacing the battery
The transmitter is powered by one coin type

Thumbs up

Steve,
Hot diggety dog, your instructions worked. Thank you very much!
I looked at my owners manual after I saw your reply and there's no mention of that procedure in mine that I could find.
Now I won't have to grumble every time I try to get in!! Yee Haw
Thanks again.
