Changed heater core in my 2000 ford 5.4, i still have no heat, blend door was broke so i took it out. Didnt have money/time to fix it since it was on thxgivng. Can anyone tell me which heater hose goes where on the heater core?
This body style truck is notorious for trapping air in the heater core because it sits so much higher than the radiator.
To check...warm the engine until the thermostat opens (upper rad hose warm) then feel both heater hoses. If one is hot and one cold try revving the engine (in park) to about 3500 RPM and hold steady while feeling the heater vents inside...if they begin to warm then it's trapped air. Drive it...the air should work it's way out.
Had to do this to just about every F150 this series that I put cores in. They do make a vacuum controlled coolant fill tool to eliminate this issue.
