Little bit of both Jim as far as MPGs though I averaged close to 16 driving 75-80. Played with the tuner some and was certainly not easy on it. It was fun. 650+ HP and 1100+ ft/lbs is fun!
No troubles once the drive started at all. Truck did have a bad alternator when we got there, but they took care of it for me.
It's Tuesday and we're getting close to the hump!!!!!
Mike - good luck with your son!
Dave - where's the pics of you and your new truck?
Have a good one boys!!!
Good morning Randy!

That is pretty good mpg at those speeds! Where did you get the HP numbers from? I am guessing it must have been dynoed at some point and you got the paperwork.

Wow - did they actually have dyno sheets to prove out those numbers???
Glad you got the alternator diagnosed and repaired....
This doesn't sound like the same truck that they advertised on eBay - or is it not "that" truck?
That's what all these trucks put down with the same setup. Add some injector work and turbo upgrade in and it gets nuts. Already puts out 40 lbs of boost...
Chris, I got them balanced. I would guess they put tires on without balancing at all...

Well that is impressive to almost double the horsepower with just the basic mods. Hard to believe but very cool! Might need tires soon! haha

Thanks Randy.
Good morning Mike! Yep we knew it was too good to be true.
Why what did I say that was negative? The fact that I said it was I said that it was hard to believe? I said it was very cool after that and said it was impressive as well. Sorry if you took it wrong.

Only kidding, that is all. Just playing off the "hard to believe" portion. you know like a lawyer, take the portion that I can use for evil

Having built many engines for both racing and street use, I'm always skeptical of "Recipe" engines.. IE, this combination (recipe) always makes X-HP and Y-TQ... Too many variables to really make that happen consistently..
Not to say yours won't make those numbers, but it would be good to actually put it on a dyno to test it out and confirm that everything is okay. Many large diesel shops that I worked with in Texas did a dyno test to confirm that the fuel and air management systems were functioning properly - particularly after an injector or pump overhaul / replacement..
All that said, if it's got all the 'Nads you want and it serves your needs - great!
I hear ya Randy, and some day here I will get it on a dyno and live tuned. But I've seen hundreds with this same setup. Here is a dyno H&S put out with a smaller tune then I am using...
