Cruise Control

So my dads cruise control sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt. Then sometimes when it is working it just shuts off for no apparent reason and then may or may not come back on. Anyone have any ideas? He is gonna be here next week so I was gonna see if I can get it fixed for him. Thanks!

I did a quick search and had numerous results that all said that same thing... Brake pressure switch. Front one of two on bottom side of master brake cylinder.

After numerous service visits without any resolution I added a Banks Six Gun Bundle to the truck and the brake switch error code was right there. You think they would have known.

Brake pressure switch. I just went through this. Cruise would work then wouldn't. No codes. Never could get the thing to go into test mode even after I replaced the switch.

I picked up a switch from autozone. F4044. Cross-references to SW6350. Just don't use the fuseable link. The switch that comes with it is SW6349. Used an O2 sensor stub 3/8" socket to loosen the old and tighten the new one. Cruise worked like a charm ever since.

Jeff

No photo here sorry...but if you look at the master cylinder, on the bottom of it there are 2 sensors. The sensor you want is the one closest to the front of the truck.

Just an FYI, they said the F4044 doesn't fit the 08 6.4L and suggested the F4053 (looked the exact same on the computer). I will get it tomorrow and report back if there is a problem.

Update

bought the switch had the code on my display. Service personnel argued that it wasn't the problem. Had them replace it yesterday (already had the switch)they reported code still present cruise not restored and that wiring was likely problem. I got in it and error code was gone. Took the truck out and engaged cruise for the first time in a few years after work today. The level of incompetence is remarkable. I also had them diagnose my clicking/tapping sound. They claimed possible fuel knock. I'm still convinced it's valve rockers. No more dealer taking it to diesel shop, where the guy has parts in stock and does the job fro 2/3 the cost. I've been a Ford guy for many years but my experience with this 6.4 is the last straw.
