Does anyone have a diagram that shows all the components of the cruise control system? My cruise just works when ever it wants (with me pushing the button) sometimes it works great for about 20 miles give or take then just shuts its self off, sometimes it will reingage, but usually not. Some days it wont work on multiple attempts then all of the sudden it desides to work. It has me totally confused. Just to note: all three brake lights do work, the recall on the switch on brake master cylinder has been done. Any suggestions would be appreciated, I rely on my cruise alot, 95miles one way to work. Thanks, sorry for long post.
You could have a bad switch but....check your third brake light. Make sure that the contacts are clean and that it isn't loosing continuity as you drive as that will cancel the OD.
I had an issue like that on an '87 Mustang GT I had. It ended up being a poor ground through the steering column duet to a couple loose bolts in the steering column. If you have any up/down slack or wiggle in the column, I would look into this.
any brake light bulb that is out can shut off the cruise when you use the turn signal. Messed up trailer wiring can too and also trailer brake lights if you didn't wire them right. Not just the third brake light.
