No Cruise Control

No Cruise Control
I have no cruise control... I used it a few days ago. I had the third tail lamp out, and so I put a new bulb in it. Still no go. NO other lights are burned out, and I even took the connector off of the brake master cylinder and jumped it. Still no cruise control.
What are the next steps? I use it alot.

Does your horn work? That would be fuse #3, engine compartment which powers the clock spring and cruise control.
Brake on/off (boo) switch on brake pedal assembly, that would be inside fuse #13.
You already jumped the master cylinder switch, that would be inside fuse #18.
Are you sure all brake lights are working .. kind of hard to see by yourself?

My cruise wouldn't work either. When I jumped the switch it still wouldn't work. I called the dealer about the recall & asked if they would replace the switch as part of they recall. The service writer said they only replace the switch when it's leaking. I checked mine before the service & it wasn't leaking. I decided it was a good time to top off the master cly. & in doing so I accidently dribbled a little on the outside of the switch.
They replaced the switch & the end of the harness where it plugs in. Cruise works fine now. Lucky break. I'm thinking it was more the plug than the switch, but i'm glad I got the new switch too.

The CC in a PSD is controlled by the PCM, and there
really is not much wiring/switches/ect in the system.
Get the wiring dia or maybe someone can post it.(cali version)
Then get the meter out and start testing.
You jumped the backup switch but did it have 12v to it?

I believe all of them are good... The only ones I have not checked are the door panel bulbs.
Travis was saying the RABS could be bad. My speedometer doesn't always move smoothly, where it will bounce a few MPH while accelerating hard, and I wonder if that could be part of the problem.

I did not check for 12Vs. This was the first thing I tried and then when I realized the bulb was burned out I took the jumper back out and plugged it in as normal. I will get the multimeter out tomorrow and check.

my 3rd brake light has been out for awhile now and my CC still works just fine so i don't think a bulb is going to be your problem.. just my .02

It won't be the courtesy lights (presuming that means the lights that go on when you open the door). After all, they're not even energized when the doors are closed. I actually stole one of the bulbs of the courtesy lights that illuminate the bed, and put it in the third brake light. Cruise works fine.
Your cruise should work with a burnt-out third brake light, UNTIL you hit the turn signal. Because the rearmost lights in the beds in our trucks use the same bulb filament for turn and stop lights, the turn signal circuit goes through the brake light (BOO) switch on the pedal. So somehow, when you hit the turn signal and the center stop light is out, it energizes just the right wire going to the BOO switch, and fools the cruise into thinking you've hit the brake pedal.
Anyway, yeah, a fluctuating speedo almost guarantees inop cruise. How can you expect it to hold a speed, when it can't even determine the speed? Check RABS and wiring to it.

Well... still no cruise.. I have been reading some though... and here is the diagram I have gotten...

and the RABS thing on the drivers frame rail, does not have a sensor that comes out, and the lead goes to the rear pumpkin speed sensor. I am going to try replacing that... what the hell...
And then if that does not work, I will take it in for the recall, with some fluid in the plug of the swithc...
