Dash screws

1964 F100, round speedo.

There are 8 screws that hold the panel to the dash and 4 screws that hold the round speedo to the panel.

What size and type of screws do I need? There are 3 different types on there now. None of them look correct.

Shadow:
I believe the screws that hold the panel will be (light = "flash") chrome plated oval head Philips sheet metal screws. Some hardware vendors call them finish screws. They'll be retained by u-nuts on the dash opening. The round cluster...I'll have to check when I get home. I just dismantled mine, and have all the original hardware. I can get you exact size/length if you need.

I bought #8 Phillips head screws.

Is there a gasket for the round speedo face? My glass is loose when I put everything together. Its sitting in the notches, but there is a slight gap where the glass meets the bezel.

There is no gasket, stickum or dum-dum in there. Been discussed before. When you get them assembled correctly the glass is sandwiched in there and won't jiggle around or make any noise from movement. I've had two of mine apart and back together and the glass is nice and tight.

Shadow: The 8 oval head screws are chrome plated and about 5/8" long. They are actually #8 screws with a #6 head and will be hard to find except through an automotive fastener specialty house. The #6 head allows the head to sit flush in the "countersink" of the dash surround. A #8 will sit above the surface a little bit, if you care.
The four screws that retain the speedo cluster are slightly larger, #10 chrome plated round head Philips sheet metal screws about 3/8" long. If you have a fastener house nearby, stainless steel fasteners look nice if you polish the heads, and they won't tarnish. Photo attached so you can see. The chrome has lost its glow on these. Ditto, on the glass has no sealer. I would personally run an extremely thin bead of silicone between the glass and the metal, using a tiny orifice syringe, so there is no rattling. Mine was a little loose as factory.

Thanks, Lowes has stainless countersunk fasteners. I bought some for my headliner trim around the doors. Nice quality.

I have to pull it back apart, I forgot to put the cardboard tube in for the dash light.

I found some disconnected wires under there, I wonder what wasn't working.

Should the oil and gen light come on when the engine is cranking? They don't.

If it's like other old Fords, I think the lights come on in the key's "accessory" position, but not cranking or running unless there is a problem. Someone here can correct me if that's not right.

Plus 1 for #8 oval head chrome. I have used SS and polished to a "chrome like" finish as well.
