These are easy to clean. First:diconnect battery...
Remove all ( 8 ) screws four top four bottom.
then remove the four screws around the center gauge keep hold of bezel so it does not fall or hit the speedometer. You can now clean bezel. If the glass is damaged you can get one cut ( 6 1/8" round ) most of the time the glass comes out easy enough that you won't break it. Now's a good time to re-paint Bezel or get it chromed or just give it a good cleaning. Re-install in reverse order and you have a new looking dash just like mine. well not quite.
These are not hard to do just take your time.
I took it apart today and cleaned the glass. I then took it all apart and cleaned 43 years worth of dirt off of it and man was it nasty!
I repainted the panel and re-installed it. I was hoping to get new bulbs but I didn't have time. It was pretty easy to do everything and I also found out that by pulling the instrument panel, you can get to the other controls such as the wiper switch a lot easier.
