Kevin thanks for the reply.
I didn't order it on mine and now beginning to regret that decision.
Go have one of the third party remote starters installed. They work, and it's still better than having to go out and brush snow off the roof so you can open the door and start it with the key!
The one I had, before, would start my truck from over 800 feet away, through several brick walls. I had it set to run until I turned the key, or turned it off, so I could warm up the truck for 30 minutes, if it was really cold out.
The one that's in the new truck only works from about 100 feet away, and not through a brick wall, at all.
Kevin thanks for the feedback. We put an aftermarket unit on my daughters escape and it works well, so I will investigate them also. I was kinda hoping for plug and play with the factory unit but it looks like its not DIY installable.
16 degrees when I started the truck (remote start) after work today..got in maybe a minute after I started it. Fan was running full blast when I got in. Put the key in and turned it,fan quit. Looked down and fan was off. Definitely temp sensitive.
Yep! Came here to post the same thing. Today was the first real cold morning we've had. I forgot to set the heat last night when I shut the truck off. Used the remote starter, had it running for 10m, and when I got in the heat was on full bore. I put the key in and the fan turned completely off like I left it the night before.

It actually doesn't look to bad. The dealer showed it to me when I was there. Its just a plug with an antenna about 1' long. Not sure where it was installed, but I'm sure you can find out on line. Just plug the wiring in and hide the antenna away. At least that's all it takes with an F250.

That's what I would have expected, too. Why would they make it any more difficult than that? The dealer says it's four hours' labor, and that's about how long they had my truck the day they installed mine. Maybe they just want to discourage the DIY crowd.

I was a Jeep tech for and that is exactly it.
Door panel, few zip ties, couple replacement panel rivets, and you're good to go.
This is the kit I just bought and installed on my truck, I haven't had the new keys cut and programed yet. I paid $170.00 for it on ebay from a dealer in Ohio that sells them. The dealer wanted $499.00 to install a system when I bought the truck but found this. It's a simple plug and play to install but it needs the keys cut and computer programed by a dealer for a minimum charge.
Can update once trip to dealer is done and see how it works
Fairway Ford, thats where I bought my truck, came with free bed liner and remote start. I didn`t get those keys, I got another key fob just for the remote. They are in Canfield Ohio about 20 minutes south of me.
I recall when I got my 2005 Excursion part of the deal was a remote start installation...
the dealer had a 3rd party come to my house to install the ford gold remote start
and it was a 3 or 4 hour ordeal and this guy KNEW what he was doing ...
BUT, that was in 2004 so guess the electronics have come a long way...
there must have been 50 wires he had to hook up !! I would have never attempted it
I'd have to double check my manual but I know under freezing Temps it will turn the heater on with the fan on high and I believe warmer than 85 the a/c comes on with the fan on high. So they are temp sensitive. As far as the fan, mine comes on exactly where I left it when I turn it off.

Mine is a 14 with the manual hvac, not digital.
Your fan will come on even with the dial set on off. I have the same truck.
