Remote start
So I got a Factory Remote start installed about a week after I got my truck. It was done at the dealership, and is the Ford Factory unit, not aftermarket. Well it starts my truck just fine, but nothing inside the cabin turns on, no heat, no radio, no gauges, no defrost, etc. I have owned 4 remote starts on various vehicles since 2001, so I know how it works. you leave whatever you want on turned up, so that when the vehicle turns on, everything comes on. Well with this system nothing comes on until the key is inserted, even though the engine is running. Also the brake doesn't shut the engine off. GRRR.
I called my salesman, and he is suppose to be "looking into it"
but just so I have some ammo if he tries to say its "normal" on this unit or something. Let me just clarify that NOBODY elses does this, its NOT normal correct?

... talked to the person who installed it, he said there should be a way to make it "auto" (it will turn it on to the temp it thinks it should be at according to outside temp) or manual (It will turn on a the settings I last had it when I got out). But that option is not in the settings. In fact, the only thing I can change is how long the remote start lasts (10 min, 15 min etc)
Also checked the manual and it says that its an automatic system, so it will set the temp to what it thinks is right.
Is everyones 11+ like this? what a bunch of crap, If its 30deg outside, i dont want it to come on mild heat, I want full blast. This just "auto" sets it to medium defrost. Is there NO way to change this?

Mine is not like that at all and it came from the factory with remote start.
If it's below 32, the heater/defrosters (mirrors/rear window) and seat warmers come on automatically, if it's above 80 it turns on the AC in the vents/seats.
If I leave the heater/ac at a specific setting, it comes back on with that. There's no other settings that I can remember for the remote start besides the length of time you want it to run.
Just note, none of the lights will illuminate on the panel until you insert the key and turn it to run, so it doesn't look like anything is running, outside of you actually hearing the blower motor.
There's some detailed information in the 6.7 forum regarding the remote start and how it functions, will dig up the thread on the details and report back.

I can play with the buttons and temp **** all i wand nothing changes, and when i insert the key, only then does it come on full blast, per my settings.
My question is, how do I get this thing to adjust to what I set it for, not what it thinks it should be set for?

The climate control system will condition the cabin temperature during

control system will return to the previous settings (last ignition-on cycle)

I think the truck has to get up to a normal operating temp before it'll kick on high. I could be wrong though, Powerstroke's explanation in the 2nd link may have more details as to how that works.
I wonder if anything needs to be done, programming wise with the BCM (body control module)?

Has the HVAC module been programmed to the latest software for proper remote start operation as directed by TSB 11-06-21?

No programming needed other then activating the remote start, which obviously has already been done...

I have no idea, how could I tell? I just had the remote start put in about 2 weeks ago, so Im assuming its the latest software? not sure where to look though?

There is nothing you can do to check the software yourself. Make an appointment with the service department and have them look at it, that's what they are there for. If they say it is at the latest level, then what you have is as good as it can be at this point in time.
