I have a 2003 F-250 6.0L 78,583 miles, and I want to straight pipe it, but I don't want to mess anything with the engine up. Can straight piping it mess anything up or is it fine? Is it smarter to do a muffler delete and leave the cat on, or just a complete straight pipe. I was thinking just a 4 inch straight pipe. Tell me y'alls opinion on if it is okay to do or am I risking messing something up.
Straight piping it won't mess anything up the exhaust systems have sections where you can bolt in the cat for an inspection or take it out for turbo whistle awesomeness.
Of course there are lots of folks like me who are bothered by such obnoxious mods. I think straight pipes are a silly mod used to stoke one's ego by forcing everyone around you to hear your engine whether they like it or not.
I ran a 4" MBRP on my truck for 4yrs. The drone gets old on the long road trips Other than that, I loved it. Keep in mind the OP's truck is an '03 and that turbo will scream louder than other years.
I run a Power Max with an MBRP 4" from the DP back. The cat is gone, but I do have the muffler. Its sounds good, no drone, you can still hear the turbo, but my truck is an 06, so the turbo is different, that 03 is going to be loud with no cat or muffler.
I had a 4" MBRP with muffler and then a 5" MBRP with muffler...both had annoying amounts of drone on the highway. I finally recently did a muffler delete on my 5" so i have a straight pipe and i have no drone now like everyone was telling me. I love it, and the muffler didnt really muffle much until youre over 2500rpm anyways
