Hey guys my glow sys is messing up in morning im stummped. A yr half ago I replaced glow sticks and relay worked great. No plug truck in all winter. Got real cold no problems. Now problems come. This is what I found. I scanned truck w ae I got error p0380 thought nothing with it truck ran fine. Getting cooler out and now I see the problem. So today I tested old relay. Got full 12 volts on left side. Went to other side w key on. No readings on my meter. Went to parts house got new relay. Same thing higher volts on far left. Always hot post. Went to other post again 0.00 on meter. Does this 99 have a controle module? Or just ca trucks. This truck is not cal truck. Could the glow sticks be bad that quick? I guess my only option is too pull off valve covers and chk wires/harness and stuff right. I need ideas let me know some ideas. Now ae says p0380 glow plug/heater circuit a. At ae bottom of drop tab it says moddule: ignition sys misfire. Im new too ae tool so let me kno guys. Thanks
Here is somewhere to start. DTC P0380 is set when the PCM detects a malfunction in the glow plug relay control circuit. Possible causes: shorted to power, open/grounded circuit, open fuse (F-Series — Fuse 30), worn or damaged glow plug relay.
Key on, engine off: Measure voltage at glow plug relay Point B, Circuit 16 (R/LG) and battery ground. Voltage should be 10.5 volts (System Voltage). If it's not, there is an open in ignition power Circuit 16 (R/LG). If fuse is blown, check for short to ground.
Okay. Thanks. Ive tried to test out the relay. No volts w key on. No volts on meter. Where is the fuse located? So if I get no power from the relay post when wait to start is on. Whats that mean? ??

hey im not understanding what ur saying here. I put the red lead on the post thats not hot 24/7. And put the black on black post on batt. I get over 12 volts on relay.
Now im trying to understand the circuit 16 r/lg?? Please explain a little better to help me try to understand. Thanks
This am I wanted to try to jumper both big termals n it seem like it just sparked like a short some where. Does this sound like it could be more a short or ground issue? If so where do I go to pin point this matter. All the help is great. Thanks
Update. I can use some help. Replaced the glow plugs and relay still no power to glow plugs. Ive tried checking the middle pin on both valves and no readings. I think I have w short. But where do i look lol so if its shorting out on driver side i take it the pass side would not resd right. ?? Any help I can get will be nice...
