When you get the info please post it. Sometimes we suffer from to much opinion and not enough fact on these forums, so it is interesting to see the specs, then learn how it runs. I did a rear wheel dyno on mine, and posted it here several times. It is a bit ordinary, which is why I'm looking at a new cam. The guy I bought it from is pretty strong on building a good engine, but he is very timid about cams.

Once you get the engine in and break it in (another subject of debate) you should do a RW dyno. It is not that expensive and it is nice to have the details, also no better way to set up the timing and carb than on a dyno.

As for break in, one thing I like about a roller cam is that cams and cylinders don't necessarily like the same kind of break in. I believe in hammering an engine as hard as I can for the first 50 miles to create maximum compression pressure to seat the rings. Tappet cams like a gentle run in, rollers don't care.

Well still no cam but I do think it will be soon or at least I hope. I spoke to Barry a few days ago and he was going to call to see why I didn't get it yet. I guess my orig cam ended up in the wrong motor.

Tonight was good though we ordered a set of the T&D roller street rockers. They were a little pricey too ($980) but hopefully worth it. As for major things I need to order my heads yet this week. I'm going with the Edelbrock Performer RPM 60065 for hyd roller setup.

I'm heading down this path. Pulled the 410 and it is now in parts. I measured it and get a 9.3 to 1 CR, so that needs to be corrected. I think I'm going to have it honed, see if the decks are square, and then start from the crank and work from there. Everything above the crank is open for replacement. I'll eventually decide on a cam when we get the rest of it sorted out.

Well 2nd cam finally came and it was also wrong however a lot closer this time so after talking to Barry decided to use it. The lobe separation is 110 instead of the 112 I ordered.

Also decided to get started today on checking main clearances. They were all exactly the same but way too tight at .0015 so tomorrow going to polish the crank to get it to where it needs to be. I hate to do it to a new crank but it has to be done or turn it to the next size bearing and that would be really dumb.

Was thinking about a 110, be interested to learn how it runs. I still have a little time before I order some parts, but not much. Hope you can get it in and running so I can learn from your experience. Hope that doesn't sound too selfish!

Gee thanks lol. You still might pass me at the rate im going. Actually I think I'll be making some head way now. I have everything but head gaskets and still waiting on my rockers. I have a feeling I'm going to be waiting a while for them to come.

I'm so glad I'm done ring grinding. I maybe a little over critical but Id say I had around hour or so per cyl making sure they were perfect.

Kind of like golf - you always want to putt second.

My block is at a machine shop getting measured. I need to know what the eventual bore size will be, if the mains need to be align honed, and if the deck is in need of machining. I should have that info this week, then I need to decide if I stay with my 3.984 crank and just do new pistons, heads, cam, and lifters (I already have a Street Dominator intake), or if I throw caution to the wind and go with a 4.25 crank and new rods as well.

I was thinking that a 110 separation might be interesting. Really interested what you find out.

Well got the crank polished Sunday mornig so the mains all came in right where they need to be. Unfortunately the rods were way too loose so we decided to get some .001 under bearings and play with a combo of std and .001 unders. I talked to the other engine builder at Survival earlier in the week and he warned me they run into that too. I ended up getting them from Barry because he was fastest ironically... They will be here tomorrow.

Onto the fun stuff

Also had to chamfer the main oil holes per Barry because I had no oil really for 1,2 and 4. Hopefully it works out. That's theone thing I didn't like about those types of bearings.

Well got the rotating assembly together finally. The piston circlips sure do suck to install.

Here's where I currently am....I was pretty happy to find that I'm .015 below deck so it should run pretty good. My decks were straight so I didn't want to cut them unless I really had to. Maybe tomorrow I will get it painted and get the heads on.

I envy you. I finally got the measurements on my block, and it needs a slight decking and a 40 over bore (it's 30 over now). Now if I can only get someone at Survival to take a call I might place an order for some parts.
