what to do?

99 F250 v10 with 200k.
Runs rough. Was told I have a bad valve and looses compression. (cylinder 4) Valve job is $1300. Mechanic told me be better to try a different engine or a new engine.
I think I am trading it off today.
good idea or bad?

Depends on what you're going to replace it with, and if you have the ability (funds) to do it.

If you're not into doing the engine replacement yourself, it's a lot more money than the valve job. If you ARE into it, get a PI-head V10 and the harness and computer, and swap everything out.

trade it off....get some plus ups with the cash difference rather than soaking the cash into an old truck and loose money.
