I've had to replace my steeringbox and sourced replacement bolts at the U-Pull-It yard. Just walked around with a ratchet and socket and pulled the upper bolt from 3 different trucks. The lower bolts collect dirt and moisture and rust in the frame. You can tell when taking them out if they are rusted in or not. The yard thought they were just some common bolts and gave them to me with the other stuff that I picked up.

My god. All this FUSS over 3 bolts that you can STILL get from the dealer or most auto parts stores. Junk yard is another option. OR just go buy some grade 8 bolts with washers.

DONE. This does not need to be a 2 week discussion

Hey Brad sorry to have bothered you. Did no this forum had post cop and discussion limit. This will be my last post. Bolts were not available from local dealer or auto parts store or local Junk yards. The parts numbers were confusing which is why I asked. Standard grade 8 bolts don't work either for your FYI. A steering box falling off while driving is a safety concern of mine and should be for you if you are coming the other way if the bolts fail. For those that have a similar problem, the bolts and part number, I ordered from Amazon came in. They are installed. Over and out.

I said enough because we were just beating a dead horse

Grade 8 WILL work!! How do I know this, because I have done it on MULTIPLE trucks over the past 20 years.

What junk yards do you go to that they do not have trucks laying around?

As for the bolts not being available from Ford, either you are full of S #!+ or your dealer sucks. Part Number 392009S100 is the bolt number and they are $12.66 each . My cost is $9.49 And they are ALL OVER the place. Simple phone call to a dealer found this info out.

I know this thread is 7 years old, but if anyone has any doubts what is the real parts number for F150 steering gear box bolts, you can see it in this pic:

392009S100
Only difference is that OEM bolt which was on truck is 16mm head, but new one is 15 or 14 (dont remember). I hope this helps someone in future. Sent them from Rockauto
