Okay, thanks. Do have the transmission model number this car will have. Perhaps my clutch housing on the truck will work for the transmission.
You'll have to find out if the '51 Ford car T86 O/D trans case (same 215 OHV I-6 & V8) will bolt to your 223 I-6 clutch housing.
I did a bit or research, but couldn't find this out. You might ask this question in the 1948/56 forum. 1953 was the first year that O/D was available in F100's.
1A-7006-B .. T-86 O/D Transmission Case - 1949/54 Ford Passenger Cars & 1953/56 F100's.
Ford changed the trucks clutch housing and linkage in 1957, which was the first year for suspended pedals.
If you need info on the transmission, look up the Studebaker Drivers Club. They produce a magazine and I know that they sell manuals and parts, including solenoids and parts for those transmissions. Alocal cruiser here in cleveland has a Hudson with that tranny, and that's what he did. He said it was very helpful.
don't want to high jack this thread but I have a couple of mid 50s Studebaker transmissions with the r10 od
can any of these parts be used on my ford 3sp behind my 223
I understand there are input shaft differences
just wondering
thanks
There is so much info on this subject on these forums. What I've opined is that you need another second generation 6 cylinder Ford Engine 215,223,262 to be able to bolt up to yur 223. Flat head eights & Y-blocks do not bolt up. The input shafts for cars are also shorter then trucks although you can change the pilot bearing or something like that to make it work. Finally, diffeence between 6 volt & 12 volt cars but, there are outfits, I linked one above, the sells the replacement electrical parts to convert it.
