Temporary Front Hubs?

I posted a want add over in the market place already, but I thought that I'd ask around here as well.

I'm looking for a pair of front locking hubs from a 99-04 truck (I believe that those are the years that will fit). They don't even need to function. Maybe someone has a pair of broken ones laying around?

I have a broken Warn hub in my 2002 rig. I need to send the pair back to Warn for warranty. I'm looking for something to put in their place so that I can continue to drive while my broken ones make the trip to Oregon and back.

You can remove the hub and still drive the truck. I had mine at Ford one time years back and someone removed one and I didn't even know it till I got home. I went back and they had to order me a new one. I drove it a week before it came in.

If you do that, zip tie a plastic bag over the opening to keep it clean.

I agree that it probably isn't such a bad thing to do some driving without the hubs in. However, at higher speeds, I've heard several horror stories.

I posted a thread addressing this question directly a couple of months ago:

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...b-lockers.html

The general consensus seems to be that driving without the hubs in should be avoided.

I guess that's a good point if you where to drive without the locking hubs in place it would only be for a short time or trip , it's putting too much stress on the needle roller bearings .
I had a hub locked by a shop some years ago and didn't release the damage was, destroyed the hub, needle roller , and hub , the cost was a weeks wages, so i guess you should buy some or borrow some hubs .

All good points I guess. But I did drive mine for a week, freeway and lots of miles, if it damaged something I didn't know it. And Ford did tell me it was okay.
