There's no specific repair associated with most codes - they just tell you which system the computer THINKS there's a problem in. You have to determine if the computer is right and what the problem is. The Ford/Helm service CD (~$10 delivered off eBay) has all of the pinpoint tests for every code for every Ford truck & van made for the year that you buy (& lots of other info, of course).
The owner's manual tells how to figure your recommended trailer weight - it's VERY dependent on your specific truck, but you can go up to ~3,500 lb without much trouble.

The PCM "Computer" will illuminate your check engine light when the imput from it's sensors does not concur with the specs stored in its ROM memory. The PCM will not lie to you. If you are pulling codes, make note of which systems the code tells you- air/ fuel, emissions, brakes, etc. when you figure out what parts you need to look into, it's time to break out the fluke and the manual. What codes are you pulling if any?

Even if the HEGOs were bad, you wouldn't be able to see it. If leaded gas has EVER been burnt in that engine, the HEGOs can be fouled in minutes, even though they look perfectly new.
But you didn't say exactly what the code definition was - just picking some words out of it (like "oxygen sensor") tells us nothing. You need to read & understand what the complete code definition says, and then analyze the system. A lean condition reported by the HEGO can come from an EGR valve stuck open, or a bad fuel pump. The HEGO can be perfectly fine and report a true problem - that doesn't mean you should replace the HEGO.
