I am thinking about upgrading my stock turbo to the GT38R I already have gauges, custom tunes, and 5" straight pipe. I was wondering what other upgrades I would need to suit a bigger turbo? And what would be the best fuel injectors for this upgrade?
Hoping for somewhere at the upper end of 450hp, not trying to get to crazy because it is still a daily driver and want to keep the reliability.
Upper 450 HP is intense, 400 HP is more conventional - from all I've read from the guys who have gone that far. 400 HP seems to be the boundary between heavy mods and moderate mods, and only the older 7.3Ls with forged rods chase numbers above that.
This is a great turbo and definitely one to consider IMO. I really like the S366 setup on my Excursion, strokin'_tatsch (Travis) had me consider this when I was deciding on injectors & turbo - glad he did . Of course the turbo is only one part of the complete system but I am definitely considering putting one on these on my F-250 as well.
Rich, if CA allowed, it be on my ride. Taking in the cost of up-pipes and a 38r, your in the same boat. Why anyone would spend the $$$ on a 38r is beyond me since you CAN NOT rebuild the darn thing...Atleast this s366 you can...
