turbo upgrade

turbo upgrade

I am thinking about upgrading my stock turbo to the GT38R I already have gauges, custom tunes, and 5" straight pipe. I was wondering what other upgrades I would need to suit a bigger turbo? And what would be the best fuel injectors for this upgrade?

My first question would be what HP level are you looking at? That will determine the injector & turbo choices to consider .

Hoping for somewhere at the upper end of 450hp, not trying to get to crazy because it is still a daily driver and want to keep the reliability.

Here as well. Took me months to decide on the turbo and injectors, it all worked out an I am very happy with the new setup in my Excursion:

Upper 450 HP is intense, 400 HP is more conventional - from all I've read from the guys who have gone that far. 400 HP seems to be the boundary between heavy mods and moderate mods, and only the older 7.3Ls with forged rods chase numbers above that.

Rich, if CA allowed, it be on my ride. Taking in the cost of up-pipes and a 38r, your in the same boat. Why anyone would spend the $$$ on a 38r is beyond me since you CAN NOT rebuild the darn thing...Atleast this s366 you can...
