Made it back from Radium Hot Springs today, despite the best efforts of the typical long-weekend jackasses. People passing on blind corners, across double solid lines, through painted islands. Also saw some guy puling a long sled trailer hit the shoulder and nail his brakes around Morley. Not sure if he had a mechanical problem, or a kid who was going to puke, or what, but he nearly slid himself into the ditch.
Not as many police as I expected today. Usually they are out in full force on the long weekends. Maybe they were elsewhere. I drive slower these days anyway.
If it means you're working, that's probably something you can take. Folks in my business are feeling pretty gloomy there are only about 300 rigs running, compared to 575 this time last year.
Of those 300, at least another 100 are getting ready to shut down early, long before the weather turns on us.
Well, my old camping trailer got towed away yesterday, and I am probably picking up the new(er) one next weekend. I was a little slow to realize that I was giving away my WD hitch with that old trailer, and not getting one with the new trailer. So I had to spend some time figuring that out. I'm no hitch expert, I just used whatever came with the trailer.
you guys probably already knew there were different sizes of ball, and a bunch of different WD systems.
Ah well, between a trip to princess auto and some shopping on hitchweb and amazon, I think I'm taken care of now. Have one of those "rock solid" rock guards on the way, which isn't really a necessity for me, but my brother just bought a fancy boat, and he needs to tow it some long distances this spring, so he'll use it to keep the hull chip-free, and I can use it for my TT the rest of the time.
Well folks my wife said I could get a new truck so we went and looked at a few 2014's an xlt and an fx4 then we test drove a 2015 xlt w/fx4 package. The 2014 xlt was not very comfortable for the seats as it was cloth. The fx4 was more comfortable just because of the upgraded leather package. The 2015 was a cloth interior but it was very plush compared to the 2014. I thought the 2014 trucks were at 0% financing which would have been incredible but they were not. So I was a little disappointed.
Then after a whole afternoon of test driving and working out the financials we went with the 2015 because it had a lower interest rate and it just felt a little better than the 2014 also I get the 6.5' box I was looking for.
Pictures to come later.
not near as cold at this end of the country as it is in ontario or out east. Just regular winter days here. be sunny and above freezing this afternoon.
Well out here in Sask. country it looks to be in a warming trend over the next few weeks (not this week though) Which is a good thing because the trailer is going to start travelling out here.
