After I put 38" tires on my truck I noticed I like the tow-haul mode more. It just feels stronger. I know the rpms are more but seems like the egts are lower. Of course I don't use this driving 75 mph. Only around 55 or less. Does the tow-haul mode hurt anything using it this way and am I correct with the egts temp. Oh and I suppose the fuel mileage is worse. Thanks
About the same time i added some gauges, etc. I stopped driving the truck every day so this may been happening for a while and just didn't know it when driving it everyday. The battery will go down enough it won't start in about 3 to 4 days. I've checked all I know how even done the test light thing where I have a test lite lit then pull fuses hoping to make it go out. Pulled every fuse and no luck. Any you guys know any tricks to find this problem. Thanks
I'm sorry guys. This second question was suppose to be in a different post. I tried to get rid of it but didn't know how. I need both answers if you can bare with my ignorance. Thanks

First, the tow/haul mode for me helps when towing, changing shift points, stronger shifts, additional engine braking, and cooler tranny temps. I don't believe it would affect ect's.
I know when driving unloaded with T/H on, it makes for a rougher ride, wanting to shift quicker both up and down. Sometimes, pretty annoying. I would expect to see a slight reduction in mileage with quicker shift points.
Second, if you haven't changed anything such as adding an additional alarm system, stereo system, etc, I can't see why you would have a change in draw.
It's probably your batteries aging. Check your static voltage. Expect a good battery to show 12.8-13.1 volts dc. Start the truck and measure it again after the glow plug cycle. It should be charging slightly discharged batteries at 13.6-14.3, depending on need.
Your symptoms are more likely old age, just like us and our output later in life.
Why not? It won't hurt anything to leave tow/haul on all the time. Once it gets to a high enough speed the trans will be in overdrive with tow/haul on or off.

You can turn tow/haul on or off at any speed and at any time and you won't hurt anything. EGTs will be lower because the engine load is lower due to the higher RPM. That makes perfect sense.
