glow plug problems

went to test the glow plugs but the wires dont seem to want to come off easily, #2 came off easily but the rest of the plastic connectors are all corroded and pretty much fell apart. Also looks like one is missing #3 (or broken off) I believe. can anyone tell me how to properly test and/or remove them? thanks

the relay clicks on and off constantly when I turn the key to on position. lasts about 30 seconds. Is that an indication I need a new relay or is it just the glow plugs?

Sounds like you need a new relay I would go ahead and replace the Glow plugs too.

No problem. What brand of Glowplugs do you plan to use?

if this is for the 93 listed in your profile, use the motorcraft ZD-9.
you can get them from rock auto for around $10 each.
MOTORCRAFT Part # ZD9

To test the gp's take a 12 volt test light and hook it up to B+ then touch the end of each glow plug. If it lights it is good if not it is bad. I had to remake my gp wiring harness because connectors where bad I used 8 gauge for the main run with 12 ga for individual gp wires and female bullet connectors. all soldered and shrink wrapped.

so it's been a while since I updated but I replaced all but 2 glow plugs which are broken off. they are broken flush off with the top of the head so there's nothing to really grab onto with any vice grips. Is there any easier way to get them out besides the obvious pulling of the head?
