replacing glow plugs?
My '99 F-350 won't start below 50 deg unless plugged in. The Glow Plug relay checks out ok. I put the ohmmeter on the outside prongs of the valvecover harness, 4 show .3 ohms and 4 don't register at all. Looks like 4 of 8 Glow Plugs are bad? Can I replace these myself? If so, can someone give me detailed instructions.

Fairly simple, just remove the intercooler pipes and other stuff to gain access to the valve covers. Pull the covers off. The glow plugs are near each injector. Check out the wiring for any breaks too. Just un thread them and install new ones. Just use caution as to prevent them from falling deep into the engine, I as a rule always replace all 8. How did you rule out the relay? I have seen them not pass enough ampraege to effectively heat the plugs. I hope this helps, just remember to take your time.

I checked the voltage coming off the relay before and after the key was turned on to verify the relay was ok. I also figured since 4 of the 8 glow plugs weren't showing the proper resistance they must be the problem.
