The sealant for the injector cups can get eaten away and start to leak. If the cups have been replaced and resealed with the current sealant, ELC is no problem for the earlier engines.

EDIT: Apparently the changeover to the newer sealant was on 2/2/99, starting with engine serial number 940614.

E99 has the wrong Loctite [sealant] on inj. cups to deal with ELC,but have heard some were brave enough to disregard that & run with out problems, but how far is the big ?

Scott, what are you asking with regards to the Water Wetter and Purple Ice? Are you asking if those products are the SCA package needed for coolant used in the 7.3L PSD? If that's your question, then no, they are not the Supplemental Coolant Additive needed for your rig.

You need a DCA4 SCA additive like Ford VC-8 or Fleetguard etc. Fleetguard DCA60L Supplemental Coolant Additive at DieselManor

Ya Stewart that was my question and I almost bought it being told from parts guy thats the stuff to get. And I just had a gut feeling not to do it and didn't buy it. So you nailed it on the spot thanks again.

Edit: Tried to Rep you but in jail and need to spread the love. Thanks again for saving me time and money!
