Trouble starting

Hi All. This is my first post on here so hopefully it works. The problem I have is with a 1958 f100 project I am working on with my dad. When I turn the key to start the truck you have to let it turn over a few times then let of and the engine will start after you have let off the starter. If I keep it all the way over so the starter is winging it won't start. I have changed the key switch and the problem still persists. I am thinking there might be an issue with the solenoid. Any thoughts or suggestions would be helpful.

Make sure all the wiring to dizzy and starter solenoid are tight and not broken. Points set right? Sure you got the ignition switch wired right? Electrical troubleshooting sucks. Goodluck.

Thanks for the reply Damiflow. I actually got it to work right today. Whoever wired it up last really had things messed up. Now on to the next issue.
