I've watched that video, the u joint should just slide in then the caps go on...the caps fit the holes but I can't get the u joint to slide in to place
Part looKS same as old one
It seems like it's the wrong part but I don't see how it could be
EDIT : With the caps off the cross take it and tip one end
so that you can get it between the yoke flanges. Stick it
as far through as it will go and you then should be able to put the
other end into the opposite side. Sometimes it takes a little
finesse to get them in.
The way I do it is one cap at a time. Take the yoke and clean it
and add a bit of spray lube. Then take the cross and hold it in
the center of the yoke. Take one cap and place it in the hole for
the cap and tap it into place while guiding the cross into the center
of the cap. The second cap is next you want to go slower to make sure
that none of the needle bearings fall out of place. Then do the same
with the other shaft. Then grease it if it has a zerk. You should also
make sure that the zerk will not get snapped off with the deflection
of the axle shaft once it's installed.
You might check the fit of the caps before you start to install them.
They should fit snug without binding.
If you can take some photos and post then to show what your having
problems with. Also there is always the chance that they gave you the
wrong parts. I hope that is not the case. Do you have backup transportation?
