I would like some feedback on moving the oil cooler on my 04 F350 6.0L diesel. I have replaced oil cooler 3 times in less than 2 years. I still have high oil temps. Coolant temps stays around 190-194, but oil temp usually 15-20 degrees higher and thats not pulling my fiver. I have spent a lot of money on my truck and plan on keeping her. Its got ARP Studs, new heads, new injectors, IPR Valve, oil cooler delete, 4" exhaust, coolant filter, Edge monitor, plus i just added another oil temp gauge just to see if i was getting good oil temp reading. When pulling my fiver coolant and oil temp can vary up to 35+ degrees. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
After the 3 oil coolers were installed, did you see improvements in your oil temps (and they gradually increased over time) or did your oil temps remain high after the install?
There are kits to move the oil cooler, however it's a good idea to find out what is causing the problem in the first place.
I use OEM oil filters and coolers. The oil temps have always been higher than the normal 15* deltas. The deltas are usually 15-20 not pulling anything on interstate at 65-70 mph. I do have a Taylor Wing on it.
My first thought was oil cooler bypass as well. What condition were the second and third oil coolers in, where they clogged or good? You have deleted the EGR cooler so why do you even care about delta's now? Delta is only relevant to a potential EGR cooler failure. In your case I would just worry if the oil temp got too high for the oil, in the 240 degree range. Or change the oil cooler bypass. There was a guy with ridiculous oil temps after a cooler change and I recall his issue was the bypass.
