The hose and COP (coil on plug) both were shot. Did not hold up to amp test.

My check engine light was on because my buddie hooked up a wire to a solenoid wrong--hard to notice under the intake manifold in the front on the right. The APG (? on name) was not hooked up as a result so the check engine light came back on steady. A code was returned after hooking it back up and pointed us to the problem. The end solution was indeed to replace the heater hose over the #4 cylinder coil, the coil (COP), and the vacuum hose assembly that had two leaks. Yay!

I replaced 4 cops and 4 plugs, trouble went away, now I'm going to use #1 on passanger side to find exactly which if any of the coils are bad by changing them out until the problem comes back.
them coils...

I think an analyzer will tell you which coil is bad, if any. But, sounds like you are doing ok now. Good luck!

Grunt99,

You need to get it on a big time analyzer check it. No other way that I know of - and it was so long ago I don't remember the exact procedure my buddy used once he got it on the analyzer. I know the plug and cop closest to the passenger seat was the problem. Fortunatly, my buddy has a garage shop and an analyzer, and does not charge unless he fixes the problem. Most places will charge you just to put it on an analyzer - so you might just want to go forward with the fix (cop, hose/wire, and plug). If you are real lucky you might find a parts store near you that will give you a complimentary hook up - but it sounds like you have some sort of gizmo already. Good luck!
