Noticed a puff of smoke

This morning on the way to work I got on it to pass some yoyo and was the first time I noticed a puff of light black smoke. I was up to temp and everything seems to be running fine. I went to the store here at lunch and when I got back and parked I rev'd it up just for grins a few times and saw the puff again (wasn't up to full temp). I'm at 140K now and FICM stays in the 47.5 to 48 range always also so do I need to start looking into contribution test, egr clean, turbo clean, check EBP or any other value or let it be?

Perhaps a little more application of the right pedal more often would suffice.

I have been keeping it low lately--for the last week I've been keeping it around 60 mph (getting 21+ mpg) That might not be so good then

It won't always NOT smoke when you get on it. A puff occassionally doesn't mean anything is wrong.

When I had an EGR cooler I could always at least haze an intersection with a WOT run. It's just the nature of having a gas inlet after all the sensors that measure airflow into the engine. Pull and clean the EGR valve if you've never seen it outside the engine bay and that will probably fix you up. Adding an EGT gauge will check for any boost or exhaust leaks.

I agree. A LITTLE bit of smoke puffing here and there is normal.

Puff Vs Belching. Puff is ok.

Also might check the MAP hose and the IA2.
See how clean it is while you doing the EGR valve.
