i started my truck up yesterday truck started up fine ran fine but had a little bit of white smoke as it does on a cold start. truck drove fine but smoke got a little worse i went home and it sat for a few hours then when i went to take it out it started smoking a bunch and getting on the highway it let out a huge cloud when i let of the accelerator. truck wouldn't smoke if i was on the throttle. then the truck just started billowing out smoke no matter what to the point where you couldn't see behind me anymore. any ideas?
The last time I had white smoke like that was when I cleaned my EGR valve and put it back with the old gasket and rubber seals. It was pinched and caused the valve to not working properly. After replacing new seals and gasket it worked perfectly. You may have a clogged EGR valve. You need a Scanguage to monitor your engine status.
Do you have a way to check your Engine Oil Temp/Engine Coolant Temp (EOT/ECT) delta (Scan Gauge II)? The white smoke (steam) sounds a lot like an EGR cooler failure to me.
The P0266 code isn't likely related, but indicates that you have a #2 injector that's not happy.
Lotsa white smoke points to egr cooler. Mine actually hydrolocked my engine with coolant. Luckily no other damage was done. I had and still have good deltas. I welded my cooler shut and put it back on. That was a year and 200000 miles ago.
