Is there a way to eliminate the door chime when the key is in the ignition, but not on, & the door is open. I think the sound is electronic coming from the gage- speedometer display. Thank's, Curt
I believe there is a chiming module, down under the steering column. Find it by sound and then unplug it.
I've done this with other fords I've owned. I remember regretting it, and plugging it back in. Then I tightly duct taped the "speaker grille" of the module just to bring the volume down to a reasonable level.
If you unplug it: make sure you have a spare key, and make sure you start a new habit of checking to see if you left the headlights on.
Well the downside to completely disabling that module is indeed lights left on etc. With either a snipping a single wire or properly removing it from the harness connector to the module it can remain on alert for instances we'd rather avoid.
