Small HX35?

Bought an HX 35 off a gas generator for 150.
guy said it was leaking oil on the cold side.
I feel no axial play, and very minimal radial play, no touching of the housing anywhere-im sure once the bearings get oil it would be tightened up. It was run on a GM 8.1 gasser generator, so the turbine has no carbon on it.

I think its kind of small though..i think.. has twin scroll T3 inlet flange, exhaust is 2.5" ID V band
Compressor has 46mm outlet, and the inlet is 54mm ID, or 10cm OD..soo smaller than the 12 or 14cm people talk about....

Have yet to look at a compressor map for this exact model, but Im thinking it is too small. What cfm do our 7.3 engines put out at X rpm?

exact assembly number is: 3597508.
holset says its for engines 5-6.5 litres. I seen some threads guys using HX35s, but Im scared mine is a dinky 35 lol

guy said it came off a GM 8.1 gasser running at 1800 rpm.

I have not been able to find a compressor map for this model.
Also-can I just replace the oil seal without having to buy or do a total rebuild?

12-14cm is in reference to the hot side. Look inside the exhaust housing, there should be a number stamped inside the inlet. Does the compressor have 6,7, or 8 blades?

A 54mm 8 blade? Was thinking only the 56mm got the 8 blade. In 54 there should be 6 or 7, with the 6 obviously being superior. Then there is the 8 blade 56mm (could also be a 7 not sure). The 6blade 54mm is the best one in stock config. If you do in fact have a 54mm 8 blade... well that would suck as it would be the worst. The good news however, the hotside should be the same, so you could make a hx35/40 hybrid, which is one hell of a turbo (60mm hx40 cold side) but i would suggest getting a 14cm wasted housing or a 17cm open.

The number for the hot side size is inside the turbine housing, the opposite side of the wastegate IIRC. Just look in the flange there.

Any idea what it originally came off of?

ill take some better measurements when I am home and more pics. Did these with a tape measure. I knwo for sure it is 8 blade cold side. I wouldnt be surprised if its the worst one.

it came off a gm 8.1 gasser generator working at 1800 rpm.

I have read into the hx35/40 hybrid. Just sounds like more money I could be spending elsewhere BUT..an awesome turbo would be cool.

does anyone know the exact part that is responsible for oil leaking into the cold side?

found this for 35$, seems real cheap..

I dot see any numbers inside the flange. Haven popped the wastegate cover off though. if its a crappy turbo ill just try to sell it..

so your saying the 14cm exhaust housing is the good one to make the HX40 hybrid out of?

I would need the hx40 compressor wheel and housing, and i would need to get it re balanced right?

also any idea where to buy turbo tubing? Would need a T3 flange and a split runner for the twin scroll entry. Also what size tubing?

emailed holset with my serial to get a compressor map. If it flows what the IDI needs I will run it as is for now.
