1964 F100 Engine / Trans Verification

I am looking at a 1964 F100 for sale. The owner says it is a 6-cylinder with a 4-speed in the floor. Most manual transmission options I've seen are 3 on the column. I'd like to know if the "6-cylinder with 4 speed trans on the floor" is a factory option? Also, when I go look at the truck, how do I verify that the transmission is original for the engine?

I've seen Number_Dummy post a lot of good information, but I need answers for these specific questions.

Thanks,

Texas_Doug

As Schoo has just pointed out, you could indeed get a 4 speed (1st is granny low) with the 6 cylinder engine from the factory and it was a Borg Warner T-98. If the truck's warranty plate is still attached, and some previous owner hasn't changed anything, here are the codes you should see: There were two I-6s - Code B = 262 cubic inch, 1 V (a fairly rare option), or Code J = 223 cubic inch, 1V. The four speed manual trans code is F. Write down and post the rest of the information from the warranty plate and someone from this site will decode it for you. Good luck!

Open the drivers door and look on the trailing edge of the door itself just below the latch.

Picture of Warranty card?

Thanks again! Y'all are great!

Does anyone happen to have a photo or image of a warranty card for an F100, 1964-1966?

Thanks,

Texas_Doug

Where are you located in Texas? I'm in Houston. We may run across items that each of us are looking for. Travel outside the state is a hike and shipping is outrageous!
