Does anyone know what the trans code FOM means on a 1954 F100?
I am planning a restoration on this truck and no one seems to know what FOM could be. I've called several of the better known parts suppliers and they had no idea. It obviously doesn't match any of the common trans codes listed for this truck. I took it from the original serial (vin) plate in the glove box. The serial number matches a 54 F100, so I know I have the correct plate, etc.
Yeah, that's what I am tempted to say, too. I want to put it back stock, so I'd really like to know. Even Bob's F100 in California couldn't tell me.
Anyone else have a clue?
The code for automatics in cars was "AUTO", so I'm wondering if someone made up this data plate? Does it have a clutch pedal, or did it ever have one? Data plates are available from many vendors.
Good idea. It does have a clutch pedal, etc. It's currently a 3 speed on the floor. But, the previous owner put a 289 in it and may have also changed the transmission, too. I'll check it out tomorrow. It's possible someone may have put on a data plate and made something up.
Are there other places on the truck I might look to find it's original numbers? I could compare those with what's in the glovebox.
Thanks, bye-the-way for the suggestions, fellows. Like I said, I'll look around on the truck some more tomorrow and see what might turn up.
