SYNC Lockpick + front camera

who has done this mod with a factory backup camera? i saw at least one person did. i got everything hooked up and its just a blank screen. i read somewhere that you can't put an additional camera if you have a factory rear cam but i can't find anywhere in the instructions that actually says you can't. pretty frustrated I've had the lock pick for a while and I just today decided to add the extra camera. i know i didn't just pay 250$ to be able to type in an address on the gps while driving... com'on now

I was just reading another threat about adding another camera. There was mention of the earlier version of LockPick not allowing you to add another camera with the factory camera.

There wasn't help on hooking one up to the newer version. But is sound's like it has been done. Might be worth a call to Lock Pick.

Did you get the newer unit that allows you add cameras or the older one that doesnt?

Calling coastaletech can help you find out. My wife, as the passenger, likes to be able to type in a address while moving... And she can watch a DVD while moving as well. It doesn't bother me any more than listening to music or her watching one on a laptop or one of the portable DVD players we have does.

The other way I have done it is I have a vehicle mount for a tablet. We've used it on rental cars, since those typically do not have a built-in GPS. Then I use either my iPad or now I have a Lenovo Win 8.1 tablet.

I didn't use a factory back-up camera but I bought one of Lockpicks cameras and it works fine.
If I recall correctly, there are two possible wires labeled for extra cameras, when I first hooked it up, I had the blank screen also, changed wire and it works fine.

The original Lockpick (before late 2012) did not support a secondary camera when used with the OEM tailgate camera. The newer version will support up to 2 additional cameras while still using the tailgate cam. I contacted Coastal Tech a few months ago about this since I have the original version. I asked if there was a software update for my LP and they said the only option was to update the hardware. So basically, I need to find a sucker to buy my old one so I can purchase the newer version!
