Wondering if anyone has had any problems with this company or it's product ?? FORD LOCKPICKS
I have searched and read alot of complaining from people saying how dangerous it is to unlock the dvd/nav features and I could careless to hear about the safety concerns, as I fully understand them and have zero intentions to watch Dora and Boots / Max and Ruby while I drive.
My daughter sits in her car seat in the middle of the back of my 2011 F250 CC and she can see the screen for a DVD but I would like to be able to play her carttons while driving.
Lockpicks is kinda expensive but cheaper than trying to install an overhead monitor and won't get in the way.
It doesn't just open up the DVD functionality, it opens up the ability to input addresses and switch to the backup cam (while driving)...
I didn't see anything about the 2011 SD's on their site, but a Google search brought up some sites where people were pleased with the product. Looks like a pretty cool product.
I haven't decided if I'm going factory or aftermarket with the audio setup when I order my 2011 SD. I want to keep it simple (after years of mucking with my truck) so a few unlock features on the factory setup would be cool.
Fully enable all the blocked functions of your factory navigation system!
DVD in motion, Navigation address input while in motion, Factory or aftermarket Camera control in any gear
An alternative to a portable DVD is a "media player" like the WD TV. Prices start at around $50 for ones that don't do 1080p or have built-in networking. Plug in an LCD monitor (I've bought a couple of those off the bargain tables at car electronics dealers for under $60 each), and load the movies onto a USB thumb drive (or SD card with thumbdrive adapter) or even a small USB hard drive. They'll handle just about any audio or video format you can think of, so long as it isn't afflicted with DRM.
Best Buy, Walmart, Staples are a few places I've seen the WD TV. Best Buy and Walmart had some cheaper models as well. There's also lots on Amazon; go to the WD TV page and look at the links to similar items.
Just for your information, it's illegal in most states to have a video playing in a vehicle that's in view of the driver, so if you decide to do this beware, you could get pulled over.
What good is a DVD player in the vehicle if you can only use it while in park. Who sits in their cars for hours watching a movie. Also the passanger should have access to the Nav unit so you don't have to pull over to change an address. I just did a 1,000 mile trip in a Lexus and what a pain it was. We had to take along an additional GPS so that we could make changes. Common Sense should always rule!

You can always use Sync to enter a new NAV destination.
I don't text while I drive. Shotgunz you must be an older gentlemen that does not have children. I have the headresst DVDs in my wifes car but changing them over is a pain. Having a DVD in the car that can only be used in park is not only rediculous but completely useless. I guess you can hang out in your car while you are camping. Wouldn't that be fun.
Tell me how much of a pain it is to have you and/or your family in the hospital because of distracted driving (you or someone else).
While I am totally against the government telling us what to do in the privacy of our homes, I am completely for them regulating what you can do when you're on public roadways.
If you think the feature is useless, then you don't know anything about Sync and it's integration with the Nav system. If you don't like it, don't pay for it. It's your choice.
Bottom line: it's illegal and stupid to have DVD player in the driver's view or provide a means to enter a street address while the vehicle is in motion.
Thanks for your opinion. I don't share your view about having access to the DVD. Your truck is sure nice looking though. My truck arrives next week and you are right I have little time with sync other than the time spent in my Dad's F-150 Platinum. I am looking forward to getting to know it better and maybe I will be pleasantly surprised. Thanks for your views. Believe it or not they are appreciated.

DBags - I just installed mine tonight and it works as advertised. Now my navigator can enter addresses or even edit my Jukebox database while I focus on driving instead of sitting on the side of the road or rushing at each stop light to do it before the next green light. I like it because I can periodically check on my rear camera while towing.
