numbers matching rangers?

I'm curious how many #'s matching rangers are out there, I have a 66 swb ranger and I'm wondering roughly how many were built and how many are still on the road? How rare is my project?

Mike, There is no such thing as a Ford numbers matching Ranger. Someone may have a Marti report as to how many were built, but no way to tell how many are registered road worthy today.

Marti has no 1966 or earlier FoMoCo records, only 1967/79.

There is no way to discover how many Rangers or any other 1966 or earlier truck was assembled, because FoMoCo THREW AWAY all the records decades ago.

There is a Ranger registry (Michelle's) but it didn't work for me tonight. It lists some but certainly not all Rangers built. There are many fakes/clones/tributes out there too. My favourite is a local, beautiful '66 Mercury 100 which may or may not be real.

Ahh the ole numbers matching purist thing haha. Like said our trucks don't go by the numbers matching game like Chevy and Mopar do. I wish ford kept all the records for 66 and back. Think how many of us would want the papers for our trucks. Keep trying the registry. It will work eventually.

It's really not important too me too have a numbers matching truck, as I stated before I'm curious too know if the rangers are rare and how are in the registry.

The rangers are the more sought after and rare ones. It'd be nice if we could actually get the real production numbers of them just for curiosity like you said. and to know how many are still around.
