that is.....the 67 was a "one year" sort of design. It took a few elements from the 66 design and had a few kernels or what would be the 68-72 design.....but many items are unique to that particular year.
Yes the 1967 are the rarest of the 1967-1972 bodystyle. And you have the federal government for you to thank...
Most of the changes made in 1968 were due to the National Traffic Safety Administration, and the founding of the "Federal Motor Vehicle Safety standards" (FMVSS) that took affect in January 1968.
The inner door handles and heater control switches found in the 1967s were changed in 1968 models due to the FMVSS as example, to a safer design because the 67s inner door handles and heater switches did not pass the newer regulations.

1967's look exactly the same as a 1968/72. The fenders, rockers, hood, roof, quarter panels (bed sides) and tailgate are the same part number. The only sheet metal that is different between a 67 and a 68/72 are the doors and the front gravel pan. All the glass is the same, the only real appearance difference are the grilles.
I gave up trying to identify them by the grilles as so many folks have swapped them out with whatever they could find (67, 68, 69 etc) and just go by the side lights/reflectors on the bed. -but even that is not always accurate.
I guess the only real way to know would be to aks " hey, nice truck, what VIN number is it?"

The main giveaways are these:
Rear-view mirror (chrome bayonet mounted to ceiling NOT glass)
Vent window latches ("L" sort of shape vs. the "C" shaped ones used later)
Interior Door operator (rotating handle - push down to lock)
Door arm rests (size/shape unique to 1967)
-chrome hood badges painted red where reflector is on 68-72
-base model instrument bezel painted white, 68-9 was silver
-brake pedal assembly different than 68-72
-front brake shoes narrower, bigger drum F100
-economy and deluxe heater controls

and, ND, I'll respectfully disagree with the claim regarding the front
valance. It's the same from 67-9. The 70-72 valance was stamped
different as the signal lights bolted to it.
