My uncle has came across a 65 f-100 ranger. It has been sittin in a garage for 30 years. The owner passed away a long time ago and now his daughter is goin to sell it. From what i have been told she sold his 72 F-100 that was near mint for 400 bucks so she'll sell the ranger for cheap too. What other options did the ranger package have besides buckets and consel, did it have p/s and p/b and what would you guys pay for one that in great original shape?
trav....If this truck is for all intent and pourposes a time capsule....and it goes cheap....you will have many green with envy....I have a 65 250 Ranger....the ranger is buckets,carpeting(2pc),gas tank cover and fender badging ONLY on non C/S trucks...c/s took precedence....The much sought console in and of itself was an option within the Ranger package....offered in 3 colors as I recall....red,black and what they called parchment...beige. P/S in 65....no, P/B....was an option added during 65 production run...I think was added round Oct 65 as I recall seeing on here some time back....door pockets were nothing unique to ranger. They were an option all by themselves....there are a couple packages offered aside from Ranger, but ranger required Custom Cab which in itself is alot of stuff...trim/comfort features.
The Camper Special Ranger truck when properly fitted is the cats meow....Mine is consoleless, cruisematic trans, radio, dual door pockets as well as the other features of the 3 packages.....But I will say, at least as pertains to mine that the seats are as hard as a rock...like riding on a buckboard wagon I would suspect....I like my cushy full bench way better...
But thats what the ranger package is....If you go look at this truck, IF they have a window sticker or a dealer invoice take careful notes of what it says as to prices and such as I, at least, have yet to see a price sheet rundown for options or the various truck models.
As for her selling the '72 for 400.....can you say a VERY happy Ford owner If the truck is clean and she wants a low price, I would hop all over it....Rangers arent too common and are sought after by many....low production numbers I would bet too but I have never heard of production numbers on them....
If you can get pics.....post here if you wanna...Im sure many would love to see a nice looking ranger ....I sure would :-)
trav...Im also in Wa state.....DO drop me an email....I will be MORE then happy to help out with this endeavor....And if ya want I can show you my Ranger.....

HI, New to forum and new to WA. Where to are you in WA? (did drag my 66 C/C with me)
Does anyone else out there have the 5M color codes? Mine is still totally original including paint and interior, engine, trans etc. 80k miles and never messed with.
AZ all its life (just moved from there) I am 3rd owner.
I found only one old book that even shows the 5M Color (Custom Order Only)
Prior owner was (1st owner) Ford Exec

First off, welcome aboard!
Secondly, I think the 5M is a two-tone, don't have the specifics on the 5, but the M is Wimbledon White. Is it two tone and what is the other color?
You're right on it being a 2 tone code. All Ford paint codes are single digits. If it has 2 codes such as 5M, it's a 2 tone. I looked in my parts books and the code 5 only comes up for 1970 as platinum and 1972 as yellow. Ford did issue us separate paint charts with all the codes. These would cover 2-3 years from the current year it was issued. I haven't aeen any around to try to get. It could have been a special order combination, but the only wat to tell would be to have a Salesman's data book for that year. It lists all the order codes needed to order up a truck.

Yes the color is 5 Signal Flare Red (actually orange, near perfect match to the Calypso Coral/Competion Orange)
So Wimbleton White Signal Flare Red Two-Tone. Kind of unusual to have the Orange outside with Red Interior. It is a Custom Cab Short Bed
with slightly rare Auto Trans. All Chrome & Trim is still excellent near mint.
Still has all original glass too although windshield has large chip.
Still has the markings under bottom side of hood that says 5M along with door tag. Also written on firewall it says "In Dash Radio"
Arizona Truck Since New. Although the original paint is getting faded from just being driven in the AZ sun pretty much bone stock.
Engine has never had anything done, Trans is starting to leak so it should be pulled for first time to replace seals and clutches.
Actually still has original upholstery etc too.
Still 100% Original Paint Too
I went with my dad 2nd week of October 65 where he purchased a New 66 Longbed Red with Red Interior, 352 3spd on column, 4.11Posi. Loved that truck. In family until late 80's had to sell when I moved as no way to take it. Found this one to replace it with. Build dates were very very close.
I have seen quite a few red and two tone red/white but never another Orange/White especially with the Red Interior.
As soon as I get my shop up and running plan on doing a Complete Frame Off Resto but adding Factory Power Steering and Disc Brakes (77 F100)
