queston for you who have a 4 inch turbo back exhaust

I just installed one of these systems and love the sound. I'm not too crazy about the turbo whistle. It is very loud. You can even hear it when idling and then all the way up till 30-40 MPH. Is that what you system sounds like?
If this is the way it is then so be it. I just want to make sure there isn't something else causing the noise.
Thanks for your help.
Paul

If you have an 03 model year 6.0 the turbo noise is much louder with turbo back exhaust. My 2006 with mbrp 4" turbo back doesn't have the loud whistle. You can here it but not loud at all.

Anybody else?? Last night while it was idling and warmed up I listened at the tailpipe and could hear the turbo change pitch now and then randomly. What could that be if anything?

Some strategy's sweep the turbo vanes and will change the whistle at idle. I'm running PHP tunes and they have no vane sweep, the looney does. And yes the 03 whistle is loud with a 4" turbo back.

For the 2005-2007 trucks, the VXCF9 strategy includes vane sweeping. I believe it's VXBC9 on the 2003-2004 trucks that includes the vane sweep.

But yes, the '03 trucks are loud....sexy loud....and sound like a jet taking off

My 05 with a Powermax has a very loud turbo whistle but I like it. Did you delete the muffler and cat converter? If you did then i'd put the muffler back on and see how it sounds and then the cat converter as well if it's still too loud.

I think this is the very reason they added more blades to the turbo after 03, is some people did not like the sound and there are a great number of us that like it, and pay money to get the p-max to get it.
different (power)strokes for different folks I guess.

I reinstall my kitty to help quiet the exhaust at times. The turbo whistle and v8 roar is still there, just knocked down a few decibels

Very funny TD! LOL

Yes, I have the MBRP muffler which really is a 2 1/2 -3 inch hole straight through. Don't get me wrong, I love the rumble it make when you get on it. That whistle from 0-30 MPH is loud especially at 5:30 AM. LOL

I'll get used to it. I just wasn't sure if the variable whistle tone was an issue or not. Thanks Guys.

Yeah I paid for that whistle - Powermax! (stock turbo broke) So the other day some guy says "sweet -you put a turbo in there?" Sometimes it is a bit loud, like when I am trying to talk over it or trying to listen to music. Solution -bigger stereo system.

Is there any clearance problems with the 4 inch down pipe with the MBRP? Any tips on the install
