Just another electrical issue

So i just installed some LED headlights, which i don't believe are the cause but i haven't fully eliminated that yet...but, when i turn my factory fog lights on, the LEDs engage the high beams. And the high beam indicator light barelyyyy illuminates. Sometimes just the right high beam comes on and the left one flickers. Wtf? lol

I can't search this issue because all that comes up is the fog light/high beam mod...

Check the pin out on the plugs. Sometimes they're universal for 9004/9007 and while the plugs are the same the pins are in different places

I had this issue with my HID kit.

Same issue? Turning the fogs on turned the brights on? it also doesn't seem to do this all the time...just most of the time. Im not sure how to check the pin outs...not sure what wires do what that go to the voltage regulator

Hrm. Maybe not. I always have my truck on auto, and when I turned the truck on at night it was defaulting to a "dim" highbeam

Yeah i never use auto, but when i have the headlights on and turn on the fogs either the right one goes to high beam and the left high beam flickers, or they both go to high beam. I just disconnected 1 headlight at a time and tried it and it still did it too. ugh...

Just thinking out loud here...you've heard of the high beam/fog light mod right? So the fog lights stay on when you turn the fog lights on? I wonder what would happen if i did that mod...hmm

I did that prior to HIDs. But my truck is wired to have the foglights as DRL from the factory.

I feel ya on the electical issues. I seem to have a bad ground on my new led bed lights. They are super dim. I moved the ground around and now they won't come on at all, yet when I put the ground to the negative on the 4-pin trailer plug-in they light right up. project for tomorrow to figure this one out. Hope you got your issue sorted out!

Miles,
I am posting the 06 wiring diagram and hope this might give you an
idea on what to look for. I might be able to make you one for the 03/04
but it will take a bit.

Look at the way the Fog lamp relay gets it ground in the 06.
It's by way of the high beam indicator lamp. When the high beams
are on then there is 12 on that line and no longer a path to ground
the fog lamp relay. I bet your problem is related to a mis-wiring.
I'll try to dig up better diagrams the 03 ones I posted are not that good
for the info you need.

EDIT : Looks like I already had the 03 info for someone so here it is.

LEDs take a lot of ground. I always have problems with my trailer lights flickering.

Yup I guess so. I basically brought a ground down to the hitch and it solved my issue!
