I'm really really debating now for my new truck, I wont have any place for mounting AUX lighting like my Excursion and i need high beams as when you get 4 hours of sunlight in the middle of winter you need all the light you can get...plus moose are a big concern!
its a toss up i'm 50/50 going LED or HID right now...i have some time to decide.
Neither LED nor HID will provide great high beams. Not for what you need them for anyway. Mooses. Moose? Meese?

You should get some light force lights
Actually my VVME HIDs have wonderful high beams. I've been running them in various trucks since 2007 with my dads being an original '07 kit working without issue.
Light Forces are cool but i'm happy with my cheap Hellas with 100w bulbs. Like i said though the new F-150 has no place for lights and i don't want to clutter up the sexy front end.
Its more the housings fault then the bulb. There's just a lot to be desired with the reflector housing
This is more what I was referring to than the lights themselves. If you installed projectors however...

That's good then. I've personally never seen HIDs in these trucks do too well because of the reflectors like mentioned above.
Also, the light force was mostly sarcasm. Kinda pricy for my taste. But I hear they are nice

I've found with the HIDs the bulbs make a HUGE difference in focus and cutoff. The cheap replacement bulbs do not place the arc of the light in the right place and screw the beam pattern all up. Thus far VVME had had the best bulbs i've found and they keep a stock focus and cutoff, i also never get flashed although i took great care in making sure i had them aimed well.
Light Forces are used A LOT up here as they are a great light, all the trucks running the Dalton Highway (think ice road truckers) have at least a few sets on them. To me the cost is a bit of a hold back, plus my friend had 2 sets of his stolen off his Expedition.
What did you mount them on? The forward ones I mean. I already have some on the hitch but sometimes there is a big dark spot beside the truck so I like that idea.
Hey guy's anyone know of some company that makes a rack or platform for the top of our trucks to mount lights etc. The majority of the roof is flimsy but there are 2 channels that may be stronger for mounting...I have two 24 " led bars and an emergency light up there mounted to two massive k40 magnets..Works well but is heavy. All that crap is mounted to a 12x24 inch piece of stainless. When I hit a bump sometimes the roof flexes..
